The Tigers won game one of their Sunday double header against the Indians. Denny McLain bounced back from a poor outing earlier in the week and he picked up his 16th win. He gave up two runs on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Fred Lasher got the final two batters out to pick up his second save.
Al Kaline hit homerun number 21 and he scored twice in the game. Norm Cash had three hits, a run and an RBI.

John Hiller threw his first career shutout as the Tigers completed a sweep in their doubleheader against the Indians. He gave up four hits and a walk with four strikeouts, and the win pushed his record to 2-0 on the season.
Willie Horton and Al Kaline each hit solo homeruns for the Tigers. Jim Price singled, scored and drove in a run.
