The Angels moved themselves ahead of the Red Sox in the American League standings as the finished a three game sweep over Boston. Rickey Clark improved to 9-8 with 7 2/3 shutout innings and Bill Kelso got the final out of the game to pick up his ninth save of the season. Jim Lonborg took the loss and he fell to 16-6. He gave up three runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in just four innings.
Jose Cardenal and Roger Repoz belted solo homeruns for the Angels in the win. Rico Petrocelli drove in both Red Sox runs with his twelth homer of the year.
