The Angels tied the Red Sox in the standings with their second straight win in another pitcher’s duel. This time it was Jack Hamilton who got it done on the mound for the Angels. He gave up one run on six hits and one walk with four strikeouts in six innings. Minnie Rojas threw three shutout frames to close the game out and he earned save number 21. For the Red Sox, Gary Bell took the loss despite a decent start. He gave up two runs on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six innings of work.
Don Mincher belted a solo homerun for the Angels. Jim Fregosi went two for four and he drove in the other run for the Angels. Joe Foy led the way for the Red Sox with two singles and he drove in the only run.
