Angels Hit Rock Bottom After Doubleheader Sweep By Orioles

June 6, 1967 at Anaheim Stadium
Orioles 16, Angels 4  (20-31)

The Angels were pummelled by the Orioles and there was nothing pretty about this game.  Pete Cimino gave up three runs before getting yanked in the second inning and in all, the Angels would use seven pitchers, six of which would give up runs.

Bobby Knoop hit a two run homer in the loss.  Jimmie Hall went two for four with a solo homerun.

June 6, 1967 at Anaheim Stadium
Orioles 11, Angels 1  (20-32)

The Angels hit their low point of the season after getting pummelled for the second time in one day by the Orioles.  Rickey Clark took the loss and he gave up four runs in 2 1/3 innings.  Jim Coates was also hit hard and he gave up five runs in 1 2/3 innings.

Jim Fregosi drove in the lone run of the game.  He went one for four with a stolen base.

The loss put the Angels 12 games below .500 and this was the low point of their season. They were 12 1/2 games back of the first place Tigers and they stood in last place.  Not to ruin it (we all know how it ends anyway), the Angels were set to rally and over the rest of the season, only two teams would have more wins then the Angels.  They’d also never be this many games below .500 so as the title indicates, this was rock bottom for the Angels.
