The Tigers dropped their fifth straight series and blew a late two run lead to the Cleveland Indians. Up 3-1, the Indians scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning to bust the game open.
Denny McLain was cruising along until that eighth inning. He ended up being knocked around for four runs on seven hits with five strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings of work.
Mickey Stanley hit homerun number three off of Luis Tiant in the seventh inning. Dick McAuliffe went yard with homerun number thirteen. Stantley finished the game with three hits and two RBIs.
