Denny McLain Pitches Tigers to Win Over Senators

Tigers 3, Senators 1  (24-14)

The Tigers won their rubber game and took the three game series they had at home against the Washington Senators.  Denny McLain was very solid and he evened his record to 5-5.  He gave up one run on seven hits and three walks with ten strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings.  Fred Gladding got the final out of the game and he picked up save number 8.

Jim Northrup had a solid game at the plate.  He had three hits and drove in a run.  Don Wert singled twice and scored a run.
