Tigers 4, Orioles 2 (54-45)
The Tigers doubled up the Orioles and coasted to an easy win behind some strong pitching by Earl Wilson. The Duke gave up one run on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts in seven innings of work. John Hiller pitched the final 1 1/3 and he picked up his first save of the season.
Don Wert and Bill Freehan homered for the Tigers. It was Freehan’s fourteenth of the season and Wert’s fifth. Dick McAuliffe, Willie Horton, Jim Northrup and Freehan all had two hits for the Tigers in the win.
