Johnny Podres and the rest of the Tigers pitching staff were bounced around to the tune of eleven runs on fifteen hits. Podres was credited with only one inning of work and he gave up five runs. Fred Gladding and John Hiller were also knocked around in relief.
Jim Landis hit his second homerun of the season for the Tigers and he drove in two runs. Ray Oyler doubled and drove in two runs and he also drew a walk.
