The Angels doubled up the Yankees in their series opener and ended their two game mini-skid. Jim Fregosi was one of the hitting stars and he went three for four with three RBIs and a run. Bubba Morton went three for four with two RBIs. Seven of the Angels eight runs came in the eighth inning.
Jack Hamilton threw five shutout innings in the Angels win but didn’t get a decision. Minnie Rojas was shelled for four runs in three innings of relief but he picked up the win and he improved to 9-7. Bill Kelso threw a shutout ninth and he picked up save number eight.
