Red Sox 4, Orioles 3 (19-20)
The Red Sox avoided a sweep at the hands of the Orioles and ended a three game losing streak behind another nice start by Jim Lonborg. He got into trouble early and gave up two runs in the first but he calmed down to collect his sixth run of the season. In all, he gave up three runs on seven hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings. John Wyatt pitched the final 1 1/3 and he picked up his third save of the season.
Reggie Smith had a big day at the plate. He went three for five with three runs. Rico Petrocelli went two for four with a solo homerun and Mike Andrews had three hits in the game.
