Red Sox 7 (59-50), Athletics 5
The Red Sox came back from four runs down to end their four game losing streak in the second game of their doubleheader with the A’s. It was the heart of the lineup that did the bulk of the damage. Jerry Adair went three for five with a run and an RBI while Carl Yastrzemski went two for four with an RBI and two runs. Tony C. had capped off a nice twin bill with a double, a single, two RBIs and a run.
John Wyatt picked up the win with a shutout eighth inning and he improved to 6-5 on the season. Bucky Brandon got the final two batters out to pick up his first save of the season.
