Senators 8, Tigers 3 (45-36)
The Senators handed the Tigers the first game of a double header just after the All Star break. Joe Sparma was crushed for five runs on eight hits and a walk in only 3 2/3 innings. He dropped to 9-2 on the season.
Norm Cash hit homerun number 11 for the Tigers. Don Wert doubled and scored a run.

Senators 6, Tigers 1 (45-37)
The Tigers lost their third straight game and they were swept in their double header with the Senators. Denny McLain was bounced around early and he left after six innings in which he gave up six runs. The loss evened his record at 10-10.
Jim Northrup had two hits and his RBI single that drove in Norm Cash was the only run of the game for the Tigers.
