White Sox 1 (81-66), Indians 0
The White Sox ended their three game skid and they kept their head above water in an impressive seventeen inning pitcher’s duel. Gary Peters threw eleven shutout innings in his start and he struck out ten and then three relievers combined to throw six shutout frames to close the game out. Don McMahon threw a shutout seventeenth to pick up the win and he improved to 5-2.
The lone run came on an RBI single by Rocky Colavito in the seventeenth frame. The win kept the White Sox in a tight race at three games back of the first place Twins and Red Sox.
