Red Sox 2 (30-28), White Sox 1 (33-23)
The Red Sox and White Sox played ten innings of shutout ball in their series finale before either team scored a run. Then the White Sox drew first blood when Ken Berry singled home Walt Williams in the top of the eleventh before the Red Sox rallied for two in the bottom of the inning off of Tony Conigiliaro’s two run walk off homer to end the game.
Both team got great starts from their pitchers. Gary Waslewski threw nine shutout innings and Bruce Howard threw seven in the pitcher’s duel. John Wyatt picked up the win despite giving up the go ahead run to the White Sox and John Buzhard took gave up the two run shot to Conigiliaro.
