Indians 4, White Sox 3 (80-65)
The White Sox lost their second straight game and the first game of their doubleheader against the Indians in a game they hung in with, but never could manage to take the lead. Rookie Steve Jones fell to 2-2 when he gave up two runs in just two innings.
Pete Ward was the hitting star in the loss. He went one for two with two walks and an RBI.

Indians 7, White Sox 1 (80-66)
The White Sox lost some more ground as they were beat up for their third straight loss as they were swept by the Indians. The offense was held to a single run on four hits and that lone run came on a solo homerun by Pete Ward.
Tommy John had a tough start and he fell to 9-11. He gave up five runs (four earned) on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts in four innings.
