White Sox 5 (37-24), Senators 2
The White Sox got a great game from Jerry McNertney in the first game of their doubleheader with the Senators. He went three for four and he played a part in three of the White Sox five runs with two RBIs and a run.
Bruce Howard improved to 3-5 with 3 1/3 innings of shutout relief. He gave up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts. Hoyt Wilhelm threw three scoreless innings to close the game out and he picked up save number four.

White Sox 2 (38-24), Senators 1
Jim O’Toole gave the White Sox seven quality innings as the team finished their doubleheader sweep over the Senators. O’Toole improved to 3-1 on the season and he gave up just one run on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Bob Locker picked up save number ten as he pitched two scoreless innings to close the game out.
Tommy McCraw hit a solo homerun that turned out to be the winning run for the Sox. Tommie Agee went two for four with a double and he scored the other run.
