White Sox 3 (31-20), Yankees 2
The White Sox made it three straight wins as they finished a sweep of their doubleheader over the Yankees. Bruce Howard threw eight shutout innings before he got into trouble in the ninth and was tagged for two runs. The pen bailed him out though and Bob Locker got the final batter out to pick up his ninth save.
The White Sox scored all of their runs with one swing of the bat. Jerry McNerty hit a three run homer in the top of the fourth inning and that was all the White Sox needed to win. It was his second homerun of the season.
